Richie Hawkings
Once I'd finished with Hejira I got settled in with some proper train music: Concept 96, Richie Hawtin's linear, utterly stripped-bare industrial grooves. Completely the sonic equivalent of the reductionist landscape of Pas De Calais, and the metronomic world of high speed trains. It got me thinking about the polar difference between his horribly frantic A.D.D. DJ sets and his amazingly compelling and absorbing longform productions as Plastikman and other pseudonyms. Impatience versus patience.
